So at last the weekend came for the wedding of one of my best friends, who was to marry her high school sweetheart James! It’s not often that I am happy to jump out of bed at the crack of dawn on a weekend, but this was certainly one of those mornings. We woke to a bright blue sky and the sun beaming through our window. With a little bit of primping and preening we were ready for the day to commence and made our way to the beautiful location of Powderham Castle in a little village called Kenton, on the outskirts of Exeter in Devon.
Jade, wearing a beautiful lace embroidered wedding dress, was walked down the isle of the Music Room by her father, who couldn’t have looked prouder to be giving his daughter away. After a short service Jade and James were pronounced husband and wife and began their married lives together.
The newly married couple truly couldn’t have asked for better weather on their special day and after the ceremony we all headed outside the castle for some photos. Powderham Castle is set in the most picturesque location beside the Exe Estuary and is also home to a Deer Park, the perfect location for some unique wedding photographs! Jade had six bridesmaids all dressed in dark blue, chiffon, strapless dresses – each one of them looked stunning and the Groomsmen were all dressed in tailor made tweed suits – very handsome lads!
Of course us girlies took the opportunity to take a few pics of us all dressed up enjoying the sunshine and Pimms
The husband and I also had a nice picture taken – My dress was from Jack Wills which I absolutely loved and even better, I managed to get in the sale and the husbands 3 piece suit was from Marks and Spencer
After the photographs and Pimms it was time to eat. The food was catered for by Posh Nosh and was three courses of deliciousness. After we had filled our bellies and laughed until it hurt at the speeches, we all left the room for the evenings entertainment. As a surprise for their guests Jade and James had arranged for us all to have a go at some Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting. This is something I had never done before and we had great fun attempting it, I say attempting as it was much harder than I thought it was going to be. By this time the sun had started to set and we made our way back in to dance the night away.
The cake was cut and the evening was soon in full swing. The entertainment for the night was a band called Eventine, they really were great and even let our friend Anna sing a song for them and played their version of Insomnia by Faithless, they had everyone up on their feet dancing all night long.
We really did have the best day and were so very pleased for Jade and James. There were so many little personal touches to this wedding that I would be here all day writing about them all so I will add some pictures at the end.
I would like to wish the brand new Mr & Mrs all the best in their new married life together and thank them very much for inviting us to share in their special day xxx
